EWEB Seeks Public Input on Waterfront Designs

By Heather Hintze

EUGENE, Ore. -- EWEB is looking for community input on the proposed designs for its space along the river after it vacates next year.

EWEB's property is the only part of downtown with riverfront access, so developers want to make sure they enhance the area for the community. EWEB officials released three drawings Monday, depicting different aspects they'd like to see on the 27-acre property.

The first is an "organic plaza" that would take advantage of what's already there. The "city green" design includes parks and walkways along the river. The third design called the "river bow" would be a long terraced park for runners and cyclists.

Community members are split on which they'd like to see. A few things residents say they'd like to see in the area are more restaurants and parks. If you'd like to weigh in with your opinion, EWEB will host a public forum from 6-8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the EWEB North Building at 500 East 4th Avenue in Eugene.

Both EWEB and the city council will have to approve the final design.
