EUGENE/JUNCTION CITY, Ore. -- All Halloween items are quickly disappearing Sunday since those items are at a fraction of the price now. Those pumpkins at farms or those costumes at stores are being bought by post-halloween shoppers.
Managers at Thistledown Farm in Junction City said they are selling pumpkins for five cents a pound. Compare that to the 25 cents they use to be.
Employee Jared Henderson said, "We've been doing this sale for a number of years now and we like to give people the opportunity to stock up for the winter."
Customers are taking advantage of the deals.
Teresa Walker drives from Cottage Grove every year after Halloween to stock up on pumpkins.
"We bake them and then we freeze part of them to use later in the year and the rest of it, we're going to make some pumpkin brownies and probably a pumpkin pie," Walker said.
And the savings are reaching department stores also.
Assistant manager William Ross at the Fred Meyer on West 11 said this is one of the best times to get ready for next year.
"Maybe because of the down economy, people might think that this is a great opportunity to get a good deal and when they see good deals, they're going after them this year," Ross said.
Other post-Halloween shoppers like Kari Edwards said you simply can't beat the prices.
"A jumbo bag is like 3 or the small ones so might as well get the big one for the best price," Edwards said.
Produce candy and costumes are discounted at half, if not more, off.
