EUGENE, Ore. --The FBI was on the scene for several hours Friday searching for clues about where at least four gunshots may have come from and who may have been pulling the trigger.
Investigators were hoisted up on the west side of the Wayne Morse Federal Courthouse to get a better look at the three bullet holes in Congressman DeFazio's second floor office windows and a fourth bullet hole above those windows. It's still not known if the congressman's office was the intended target.
Investigators say the shots were fired sometime between 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday and 7 a.m. Thursday from the Mill Street side of the building. The damage was discovered by DeFazio staffers when they arrived at work.
The FBI is working with several other law enforcement agencies including Eugene police to solve this case.
Congressman DeFazio has no comment on the matter because this is an ongoing investigation.
If you have any information about what happened, contact the Eugene or Portland offices of the FBI.
