VANCOUVER, Wash. -- A Vancouver, Wash., woman who called for an ambulance after her brother hit his head was surprised when the ambulance arrived, then drove off a short time later without her brother.

Police responded to the report of the stolen AMR Northwest ambulance Wednesday night and found the undamaged vehicle abandoned a few minutes later. Officers say their investigation indicates a transient in the area may be responsible.

Liz Carney says a second ambulance responded quickly and her brother got the care he needed.
