Weekly Farmer's Market Begins at UO Campus

EUGENE, Ore. -- Good news for fruit and veggie-lovers at the University of Oregon: a weekly farmer's market will come to campus starting Thursday, October 29.

The Associated Students of the University of Oregon (ASUO) announced the official launch of the campus market that will bring fresh fruits and vegetables to the UO students.

On its first day, the Market will feature an abundance of traditional autumn foods like pumpkins, garlic, and honey from four farms around the Eugene-Springfield area: SLO Farms,
McKenzie River Farm, Gathering Together Farm, and Lonesome Whistle Farm.

Organizers hope the market will be a much-needed convenience to students who are conscientious about what they eat and desire local, healthy food. Depending upon the success of the market, the ASUO will consider expanding the event to include more local farms, as well as another market during Spring Term.

The ASUO Farmer's Market will run for four consecutive Thursdays on the UO campus, starting October 29. Farmers will display their offerings at the corner of 13th and University Streets, near the top of the EMU Amphitheatre, between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
