H1N1 Cases In All Three Creswell Schools

By Gia Vang

CRESWELL, Ore. -- The number of H1N1 cases in the country is growing, and it's no different in Oregon schools.

The Creswell School District has confirmed cases of the swine flu virus in all three of its schools. While parents are concerned over what the district is doing to prepare for more cases, district employees say they've been working hard to combat it.

Creswell Middle School principle Shirley Burrus said extra precautions are being taken at all three schools. She said hand sanitizers and disinfecting wipes are in every classroom.

Burrus said the district's new protocol states that if any staff member or student show flu-like symptoms, the district isolates them and sends them home. Those who may be infected can only return to school if they have been fever-free for 24 hours without medication.

District administrators say they are working with Lane County Public Health to set up flu clinics at their schools. The clinics are scheduled for mid-November.
