CORVALLIS, Ore.-- Television shows often make criminal investigations seem quick and easy, but in reality investigators often take months or even years to get anywhere on a case.

A crime analyst at Oregon State University is helping authorities speed up the time line of criminal investigations by narrowing down the pool of suspects.
