Eugene, Ore. -- It looks like Oregon running back LeGarrette Blount may be reinstated, but not immediately. Oregon head coach Chip Kelly spoke at a press conference this morning to discuss the suspended running back's future. Kelly said Blount will be given a chance to return to the field, should he fulfill certain benchmarks. He said the earliest he could return would be the game against Stanford, November 7th. We'll have reaction to Kelly's decision tonight on KEZI 9 News at five and six.

Blount Not Reinstated...For Now... Fire Chip Kelly
UNBELIEVABLE! So much for Kelly's veracity, Blount ASSAULTED (as in a crime) someone. Bring him back??? NEVER! If this was the first time he lost his temper and hit someone I would have more sympathy, a little understanding and would consider bringing him back; but it's not! For Kelly to even consider it means we need another coach!

Nobody should be able to pass judgment on someone that they don't know. Blount is paying his debt by missing a lot of football. Also consider that this wasn't just seen locally, it was National. In earlier articles it stated that this would handicap his getting drafted to pro. So in my opinion he is paying his debt to get back into the game. If Chip Kelly thinks it will be ok, I will trust his judgment of his player. Blount has even publicly apologized for his actions which he didn't have to do but did anyway. That to me shows he is sorry for his actions. A mistake was made a debt has been paid let Blount play.

Come on; we have all made a bad choice, Blount should be reinstated, I'm sure he has learned from that mistake. Good for you Chip Kelly. Crime, I don't think so. Bring him back.

I can't believe this! People do make mistakes, I admit, but everyone is talking like LeGarrette didn't know any better! Maybe getting kicked off the team would help him understand that he is no better than anyone else (even guys from Idaho). Maybe this will be a lesson for his future kids, of ANY future players for that matter.

Kelly is a fraud, a liar and a fool in this deal. Blount is a misfit, a gangster and a moron out of control.
The U of O and its student body, if it had any class at all, would also protest this stupid possibility.

In Oregon, the definition of assault is when you cause physical injury to someone.The different degrees of assault (1 being the most severe,2,3,4) depend on such things as the type of weapon (if any), degree of injury, etc.
163.160 Assault in the fourth degree. (1) A person commits the crime of assault in the fourth degree if the person:
(a) Intentionally, knowingly or recklessly causes physical injury to another; or
(b) With criminal negligence causes physical injury to another by means of a deadly weapon.
(2) Assault in the fourth degree is a Class A misdemeanor.
(3) Notwithstanding subsection (2) of this section, assault in the fourth degree is a Class C felony if the person commits the crime of assault in the fourth degree and: (a) The person has previously been convicted of assaulting the same victim; (b) The person has previously been convicted at least three times under this section or under equivalent laws of another jurisdiction and all of the assaults involved domestic violence, as defined in ORS 135.230; or (c) The assault is committed in the immediate presence of, or is witnessed by, the person’s or the victim’s minor child or stepchild or a minor child residing within the household of the person or victim. (4) For the purposes of subsection (3) of this section, an assault is witnessed if the assault is seen or directly perceived in any other manner by the child.
I would say that many children witnessed him assault his victim as he commited this crime on national TV. Had it been in Oregon the state could put him in jail as it does to so many who use this method of ending an arguement. Way to represent OREGON! Thats how we do it Right?
