Corvallis, Ore. -- Researchers at Oregon State University say that the earthquake that struck the Samoan Islands on Tuesday sits in a subduction zone very similar to the one Oregon sits on.
At one point, researchers had predicted an earthquake like the one this week would hit Oregon sometime in the next 100 years, but now they're saying it will happen sometime in the next 50.
