Eugene, Ore. -- Former Governor John Kitzhaber was in Eugene on Friday to address his campaign plans for governor. Kitzhaber addressed the City Club with a three-pronged plan for recovery: Strengthen the education system; eliminate dependence on oil and other fossil fuels; and overhaul the health care system.
Former Secretary of State Bill Bradbury is another Democrat seeking the governor's office, and there are rumors that Congressman Peter DeFazio could join the race as well. There are currently three Republican candidates: former businessman Allen Alley, Senator Jason Atkinson and former legislator John Lim.
