Repeat Bank Robber Gets 30 Years in Prison

By Brian Schiedel

Eugene, Ore. -- A federal judge has sentenced 43-year-old Larry Rich of Marcola to 30 years in jail after pleading guilty to multiple charges.  Prosecutors say Rich brandished a gun while robbing a Wells Fargo bank in Eugene last year.  Though he escaped with more than $2,300 in cash, he was later arrested in Washington state and returned to Oregon to face criminal charges.

The judge sentenced Rich to 26 years for the bank robbery, then got another four years for violating the terms of his release in two earlier cases.  Rich was convicted of armed bank robbery in the 1990s.
