Elkton, Ore. -- Sheriff's deputies say at least three dogs are dead after visiting an area near Elkton, where Elk Creek meets the Umpqua River. They say the dogs were in normal health when they came to the river, then began vomitting and convulsing. One dog died within 30 minutes, with another dying on the way to the vet. Deputies say tests are still underway to see what caused the deaths, but until a cause can be determined, they're warning the public to stay away from the area.
