Thursday's thunderstorms hit many part of western Oregon including Cottage Grove, Shedd and Albany. In Cottage Grove, the rain came down so hard it flooded the parking lot at Cottage Grove High School. Water poured off the roof and teens left class to check out the wild weather, which is pretty rare in this part of Oregon.
The storm also hit in south of Tangent on Highway 99. A pool of hail flooded off of the deck of a church in Shedd.
In Albany, Thursday's storm made parents and students a little nervous. Nearly 300 seniors from West Albany High School graduated at Memorial Stadium. About half of the seating was covered. But the other half of the audience and all of the graduates were exposed to the elements on the football field. Although parents and family members prepared for more inclement weather by packing rain jackets and umbrellas, the good weather held up through the ceremony.
