It's been nine years since 14-year-old Stephanie Condon disappeared while baby-sitting at her cousins house in Tri City. Now, a 14-member multi-agency task force team has been formed, dedicated to Stephanie's case.
There will be three retired investigators working full-time once a week on the case. The others will also be dedicated her disappearance, but not full-time.
Stephanie's family formed a website for her (www.findstephanienow.com) on October 30, 2007, on the 9-year anniversary. It's a tribute to help find her. The sheriff's office says there is hope Stephanie is alive, but that's just not the reality of the situation.
"We are working a homicide case here," Douglas County Sheriff's Office PIO Dwes Hutson said Wednesday. "It is a child abduction homicide case. We've realized that for quite sometime. That's where we're focusing our efforts."
The public has provided a number of leads during the past year, and investigators are working hard to follow-up on them. The sheriff's office wants to remind you that any tip, is a tip, so please continue to call them in.
There is still a reward of up to $20,000 being offered for information leading up to the arrest and conviction of the person or person's responsible for Stephanie Condon's disappearance.
The task force is represented by the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, the Roseburg Police Department, the Oregon State Police and the FBI.
