DEADWOOD, Ore.-- Ray Robinson spent 12 years building a one-third scale railroad on his private property. Now Lane County and the State of Oregon say he needs special permits, even though the railroad has been finished for almost a year.
Robinson says his dream is complete so if they ask him to take down his railroad tomorrow, he'd comply. Visitors say they'd be disappointed to see the railroad go.

Railroad & Politicians
It really boggle's my mind that Local, State and Legislative bodies have nothing else better to do then to take a very good person and project to task. This railroad was built over a fifteen year period and they are just now coming up with all these so-called regulations, statutes and laws. It seems to me that these folk need to be removed from office for failure to work on the Economy and Budget for local, state and county budgets. Looking over the streams, wetlands that have been created form what it was before the county and state should be greatful that this completed without any public funding.
If they have to clse the railroad I hope that the owners turn around and charge the governments for the time and monies put into changing the landscape form nothing to a very beautiful place.
I and my wife have ridden on this railroad and talked with the owners and other people that helped in this project. What a wonderful time we had!!
