Wednesday's Child: Meet Jason and Izac

Energetic brothers, Jason and Izac are counting on being adopted together. THey have been searching to find the place where they belong and are in need of a permanent family who can help them frow into their potential. Jason is tall for his age and has a medium buid. Brown hair and pretty blue eyes. Izac is small in stature with brown hair and blue eyes just like Jason. The are active and enjoy playing sports like baseball, basketball. Being physically active has provided a great way for these brothers to manage their energy level and give them a sense of pride and accomplishment. Jason and Izac have been through a lot of hardship in their early lives and as a result, have some special needs. However, these boys are intelligent, sweet, appealing, and have the potetial to grow into wonderful young men with the love and committment that a permanent home can provide.
Jason is on track socially and academically. He is in good physical health but struggles with feelings of sadness and anger at the losses he has experienced. He needs a great deal of reassurance that he is doing OK because he tends to put a lot of pressure on himself. With the help of his therapist and medication, Jason is learning to express himself when he feels sad instead of withdrawing or isolating himself. Jason is working of trusting that adults will be there for him. He is learning that it is OK to show his true feelings instead of just pretending he's happy.
Izac is a busy little boy! He has made many significant strides in improving behavior in school. He is at grade level or possibly above and is good at math. He is working on managing his impulsive behavior, which contributes to some aggression with his brother and other kids. Medication has also helped Izac cope with his angry feelings and aggression, which are indicative of his underlying depression. Izac is a sociable little boy who is working on coping with life's ups and downs without tantrumming or losing his temper. Izac needs adults to help him remember what he can do to feel better when something upsets him and has been making progress in this area.
Jason and Izac were first placed in foster care in February 2006 due to neglect, inadequate living conditions, parental substance abuse and exposure to domestic violence. The boys have experienced deep sadness at the seperation from their family and have felt angry at their biological parents for not being able to take care of them. The boys have also struggled with low self esteem. With help from their therapuetic team and foster family, Jason and Izac are learning that they are likeable, loveable boys who are worthy and deserving of a familys love.
Jason and Izac are full siblings. They have two younger half siblings, who are also in foster care. Jason and Izac lived with their younger brother before they were removed from their parents and their sister was born a few weeks later, Jason and Izac are having monthly contact with their half siblings, but DHS is planning seperately for therse children. It would be beneficial for the boys if their adoptive family was able to help them maintain a connection to their biological family.
The family chosen to adopt these wonderful boys will need to be patient and capable of earning a child's trust, and will need to be able to allow Jason and Izac to bond and attach on their own individual timeline. A family that will reach out to these brothers and express love and committment, even when they are slow to express back, will be able to help these boys the most.
