EUGENE, Ore. -- As the number of children coming into foster care keeps growing, the need for foster parents is nearing emergency levels. But if you're nervous about jumping into a full-time responsibility like being a foster parent, you should know there are other options.
Respite care providers essentially provide child care for foster parents, allowing them to have some time to themselves. It can range from a few hours a week to a few days a week.
Shelter care providers take in children immediately after they're removed from their parent's homes. A stay can range from a few days to a few weeks.
