SALEM, Ore. -- The report card is out for kids' health and education, and Oregon has moved from up a spot to number 18.
But one aspect hasn't improved, one in four Oregon children is obese.
Health advocates attribute that to several factors. One is that the number of families in poverty has increased, which affects the quality of food choices. Plus the state budget crunch has forced schools to cut back on physical education and more nutritious lunches.
The recommendation is that kids get one hour of physical activity every day, which includes aerobic and muscle strengthening exercises.
