EUGENE, Ore. -- Three Eugene businesses are on guard after an armed robber hits them twice.
One of those businesses was robbed in broad daylight in the middle of downtown Eugene. For these three businesses, enough is enough.
All three shops have each been robbed twice by a man wielding a knife. "He usually tries to hide his face in some way, display a knife, demands cash, gets in and leaves," said Matt Herbert a detective with the Eugene Police Department.
The first armed robbery happened on October 20th, 2009 at the Subway off Franklin Boulevard. One month later, on November 21st, the same Subway was hit again.
A few hours later, the Adult Shop off River Road was robbed, and the suspect is caught on camera.
"He's pretty direct and threatening in some cases and there have been some people that have been pretty traumatized by him," said Herbert.
After getting away with three robberies, the suspect's confidence seems to build.
On November 22nd the Freudian Slip in downtown Eugene was robbed in the middle of the day. Businesses on that block say despite the robbery they feel safe there.
Patricia Jagels owns the antique clock shop right next to the Freudian Slip. Jagels says the businesses along that stretch of Pearl Street are a close knit community. "For 19 years we've been down here. We've never had an incident where we felt like somebody was going to rob us in our store," said Jagels. "We watch out for each other. We have phone numbers that we can call back and forth if we have a problem."
On January 31, 2010 an armed robber hit the Adult Shop again. He then made his way downtown and robbed the Freudian Slip in broad daylight. But the second time around wasn't as easy as the first.
"Bystanders intervened, pushed the gentleman off his bicycle and recovered it," said Herbert. It was folks on the street and people in the store that fought back.
The robber did get away, but without his bike. Police say it could be the same person robbing these businesses, but there is a chance more than one person could be involved.
Regardless, they hope to stop the robber before he has a chance to strike again.
If you recognize the man pictured in this story or if you know anything about these six armed robberies, call the Crimestoppers line at 1-877-876-TIPS. You could earn up to a $1,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest.

Don't worry, as long as you
Don't worry, as long as you keep you head in the sand and handcuffs on the police force you'll be safe downtown.........from the people who wouldn't hurt you in the first place.
It's only going to get worse when the weather begins to change.
