Crimestoppers: Looking for Krysten Goggin

By Holly Menino

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. -- Stolen checks turning up in the banking system is nothing new.  But even when you think you're taking all the right precautions, your checks can still end up in the wrong hands.

Springfield Police are looking for a woman wanted in a check forgery case.  Springfield Police say 23-year-old Krysten Goggin tried to cash a stolen check at a Springfield bank.  Before she could get away with the cash, the check came up stolen.

Detective Jeff Murkin with the Springfield Police Department said, "This is just one check that she passed. We have no indication that she passed any other checks from that business."

That check was made out to Goggin, for more than $1,200 dollars.  "Don't know if she's the person that stole the check or how she came about being in possession of the check," said Murkin.

The check belongs to Hamilton Construction Company in Springfield.  Police say it was in a batch of checks thought to be shredded.  But now those checks are turning up in local banks.  "There's several business checks missing and we're trying to track them down where she got them from," said Murkin.

Police say the check Goggin attempted to cash was the first one to turn up from the stolen batch of checks.  Since then, Police have come across one other check, but it is connected to someone else.
